Instead of going out on that fun hike with your kids or friends, you sit around at home because your excess weight or a chronic health condition is holding you back, and you know you’d be too tired, short of breath, or achy to enjoy it.
Your medications to manage your diabetes, cholesterol, or blood pressure just keep changing or increasing in dosage without curing the issue or making you feel any better; in fact, the side effects make you feel worse. You’re spending more and more money on medications that you would rather use to create quality experiences with your family.

I am on a fiery, soul-driven mission to heal the world from unnecessary food-related suffering. Too many people's lives are weighed down by excess bodyweight, chronic diseases, and a sense of feeling imprisoned by an obsession with food, and I am here to change that - one person at a time.
I'm Dr. Katie Gatica, a physical therapist turned plant based nutrition and food addiction recovery coach, and I help people heal their bodies and their minds through evidence-supported plant-powered dietary habits.
I have been mostly plant-based for years but became significantly overweight through the process of having four babies. I always knew I was addicted to sugar, chocolate, and cheese but wasn't willing to give them up in the name of my health until I came to a stark realization that I was hurting my body and my weight wasn't going to come down unless I took action.
That was when I learned about the science of food addiction, and took a deeper dive into WHY it is so hard to implement the healthy habits we all know we SHOULD be, and the profound and lasting benefits that going fully plant-based has on not only our weight but our physical, mental, and emotional health.
I have since lost 65 pounds and feel better than ever. Dare I say I feel better than I did when I was in high school! I have become 100% plant based and am no longer plagued by cravings for those things I never imagined I could give up (the sweets, the chocolate, the cheese, etc.) and it is so freeing. Seriously guys, I feel amazing. So naturally I want to help others to feel the same vibrancy, health, and clarity that I do.

LOCATION:
This will be a lecture-style class, in a classroom, with a power point presentation. There will be plenty of opportunities for interaction with the instructor, Dr. Katie, including time for Q&A.
Possibly. We are currently working out the technical details required to record this event, but we can't make any guarantees at this time. The only way to be sure you'll be able to watch is by attending in person!
You may want to bring a pen and notebook to take notes, if that's your style. Otherwise, you don't need to bring anything!
